Who We Are

Clean Wisconsin Action Fund is the political sister organization to Clean Wisconsin. The Action Fund, an environmental advocacy organization, protects Wisconsin’s clean water and air and advocates for clean energy by being an effective voice in the state legislature and by holding elected officials accountable.

The Action Fund endorses candidates who support a pro-environment agenda. We also hold an environmental issues and media training for candidates, and provide environmental issues updates, and media support for Action Fund endorsed candidates.  We also host an environmental awards luncheon honoring environmental leaders in Wisconsin.

Through effective advocacy, the Action Fund is working to create a more sustainable and politically engaged society. 2006 was quite a successful year for the Clean Wisconsin Action Fund and we expect 2008 to be even more successful.

Clean Wisconsin and Clean Wisconsin Action Fund are both your environmental voice. But Clean Wisconsin is a 501(c)(3) tax deductible organization. 501(c)(3) charities like Clean Wisconsin are prevented by law from endorsing political candidates or spending more than about 20% of their budget on direct lobbying.

That’s why the nonpartisan Clean Wisconsin Action Fund was founded. The IRS calls Clean Wisconsin Action Fund a 501(c)(4) organization. That means the Action Fund can dedicate about half its efforts to lobbying, legislative work, and holding decision-makers accountable.

For more than 30 years, people like you have trusted Clean Wisconsin Action Fund (founded as Wisconsin’s Environmental Decade) to have what it takes to keep Wisconsin’s air, water, and energy clean. Creating and sustaining Clean Wisconsin Action Fund is one way we assure this success.

Clean Wisconsin Action Fund can help make sure that Wisconsin elects state, local, and national officials who will support environmental protections and a cleaner, affordable energy policy that invests in Wisconsin workers and families.
